2017-2018 Calendar

You may view the calendar by using the link below.  As you look over the calendar, please keep the following information in mind.

The Governor recently signed “a Joint Resolution to provide that the opening date for students to attend public schools during the 2017-2018 school year may be as early as Thursday, August 17th, in the discretion of the school district Board of Trustees”.  On Monday, August 21, 2017, South Carolina will be in the path of the largest total solar eclipse experienced in North America since February 1978, therefore we are allowed to move the opening date to before the eclipse.  Public school districts normally must wait until the third Monday of the month to begin school for students.  August 21st is scheduled as a half day because of the solar eclipse.  We need to transport students home safely before the eclipse occurs that day.  The total solar eclipse first enters the state at 2:36 p.m. and leaves the Atlantic coast at 2:49 p.m., therefore this would be during our normal dismissal times for some of our schools.
